About

I hold a Master’s in Arts, Festival and Events Management, a PGCert Teaching Qualification in Further Education, a BA (hons) in Acting and English, and fifteen years’ experience in the arts. I am passionate about self-discovery, the journey of learning, creativity through play, and the relationship between wellbeing and the creative arts. All the things that make us human.

EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION
Lecturer Drama, Performance and Production (2017-present)
Learning, Teaching, Assessment and Feedback
  • Planning and delivering classes across both Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) provision in creative arts contexts – level 6 to 11.
  • Creating, developing and managing content, teaching materials and resources in a virtual learning environments (LMS)
  • Writing, delivering, marking and verifying assessment materials and feedback for both formative and summative contexts relating to curriculum through levels 6-10.
  • Cultivating and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders to support student learning and engagement with community projects.
  • Project management and facilitation of experiential learning opportunities. To date having worked with 10+ organisations on 22 different student developed community projects within the contexts of health, wellbeing, education and community.
  • Trauma informed, pastoral care and student support through their academic studies, often through personal challenges that have arisen.
Research and Scholarship
  • Critical Enquiry: Impact of mobile phone removal on engagement and productivity in the rehearsal room.
  • De-rolling feasibility study: The use of performance pedagogies for the wellbeing of clinicians. (unpublished)
  • Book chapter (not yet published): Confluence of integrated practice: Edutainment, the Creative Industries, and the Remote Curriculum.
Curriculum Development
  • Co-writer of the PGCert Festival and Events Management programme incorporating asynchronous learning and teaching approaches.
  • Co-writer of the BA (hons) Drama and Production programme. Wrote and developed ten modules; Physical Theatre in Performance, Audio Performance, Theatre Design and the Imagination, Introduction to Directing, Live and Online Digital Performance, Applied Drama (education and community & Health and wellbeing), Corporate and Commercial Performance, Entrepreneurship and Production, and the fourth year practical project module titled Autonomous Practitioner.
  • Wrote, designed, and developed a new module assessment support pack for SQA – Acting for Camera level 7.
  • Wrote, designed, developed, and delivered the NPA Acting and Theatre Performance programme.
  • Co-wrote, designed, developed, and delivered the NC Acting and Theatre Performance.
  • Program Leadership experience – NPA Acting and Theatre Performance, NC Acting and Theatre Performance, HNC acting and Performance, PgCert Festival and Events Management.

Eden Court Community Cast | Under Milkwood (2019)
Working with mixed ability community group on a full scale production as a workshop leader and director.

Artichoke Trust | Processions (2018)
Responsible for overseeing communications, set up, installation and operation. As well as supporting the procession itself, managing accessibility routes for those participating

Toaster Lab | Transmission (2017)
An augmented reality installation and live show project across 29 interactive sites in Edinburgh. Audience engagement through a phone app. Supported location management, project operation and logistics , technical set up and strike of live shows, and stakeholder management from the Scotland side.

Butt-in Productions | The Man Who Shouldn’t Be Here (2017)
Working as a producer for the project. Managed rehearsal schedule, cast and crew, and performance logistics.

Hot Feat Canada | Counting Sheep (2016)
Supporting the production on the lead up to the fringe; venue management, box office management, staffing and operations of FOH.

Grid Iron | Letters Home (2015)
Supporting the production through FOH. Audience engagement, support and guiding through the multi-site procession performance.

Strangetown Theatre (2014-2017)
Working as a workshop leader, assistant director and director across ages 8-18yrs. Worked on projects such as Only the Brave (2016) in partnership with NTS connections as well as Where Next (2016) at the Traverse Theatre, and Traffik (2017) a promenade performance in the Out of the Blue Drill Hall.

TheatreFX Arts Academy (2014-2015)
Workshop specialist in drama. Designing and delivering weekly classes to children ages 5 to 18 years. Each term would have a key focus around skills building and development.

Stagecoach Theatre Arts Inverness (2013-2014)
With each term alternating between skills development and text-based or devised performance within the contexts of drama and voice, workshops were designed in response to the needs of the school, and or the production chosen. Director of Honk Jr.

Razzamataz Theatre School Edinburgh (2013)
Working with the Saturday school developing skills in performance and drama. Experience in both text and devised work. Stage manager and producer for A Night in the 80s, and a promenade site specific Halloween Extravaganza.

Caterpillar Music (2012-2014)
Workshop leader for babies 0-preschool exploring music, movement and sensory experiences. Worked in parent and baby groups, as well as in nursery and preschool settings.

Computer Xplorers (2011-2017)
Workshop delivery of afterschool club curriculum, working with children 6-11yrs on computer skills, using software like Sketchup, Scratch, Lego, and mindcraft.

Two in-person workshops: Learning about visual impairment through drama and Accessible Drama
Two short films, using verbatim techniques, documenting life as a blind or partially sighted person.

National Trust for Scotland – Abertarff House (2021)
Short film exploring the history of the space and the sorts of characters who stayed there.

Out of the Darkness Theatre Company (2020)
Two online workshops delivered live exploring key themes around covid safety, lockdown and adjusting to the new norm.
Two short films exploring the difficulties faced with covid whilst highlighting the positive parts of individual experiences.

National Trust for Scotland – Elf Academy Brodie Castle (2019)
Working with students to devise a site specific promenade performance for children and families at Christmas.

Highland Hospice (2019)
A devised piece of theatre created in partnership with the staff and patients involved in palliative care to highlight the positive and upbeat work the hospice does.

Safe, Strong, Free (2019)
A devised promenade piece for children highlighting the ethos and curriculum of the organisation.

Clarity Walks (2019)
An interactive workshop for children and families highlighting the importance of disconnecting from electronic devices and social media for positive mental wellbeing.

Cradlehall Primary (2019)
A workshop on film making and climate change as per the curriculum.

Pancreatic Cancer UK (2018)
Homeward Bound a scripted project documenting the life and death of Seth Goodburn following a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

A devised performance highlighting the challenges, differences, and achievements of people with autism.

Autumn Collapse a short film exploring the ‘what ifs’ of not speaking up about metal health.
